In May of 1968, amidst worries about the future of pulp resources strained by the sudden increase in paper demand in a rapidly expanding economy, and with an eye to the future potential of petrochemical research, Japan's Science and Technology Agency published their "Recommendations towards the Development of a Synthetic Paper Industry", launching a synthetic paper boom in the related business community.
Dozens of firms took up the research and development of synthetic paper, and many began commercial production, but with the first oil crisis in 1973, most were forced to pull out of the industry.
Since then, not only in Japan but worldwide, synthetic paper companies like ours have pioneered the functional application of synthetic paper in a continually expanding marketplace, and synthetic paper is now being actively used in a wide range of fields around the globe.
